Job operations nerve centre
A computerised operations centre has been set up to organise and direct BGC´s workforce and keep track of job progress.
The centre at the company´s Stoke-on-Trent HQ is staffed by a team of administrators and supervisors headed up by Principal Contracts Manager Steve Wright.
Others include Administration Officer Jackie Draper, Electrical Supervisor Mark Tolley and Contracts Supervisors Dave Roberts and Grenville Sutcliffe.
On the wall are giant planning charts which plot where the teams of gas engineers, electricians and other building industry tradespeople are working and will be working in forthcoming weeks.
The computers are linked to a job log database - which gives a bang up-to-date status of every job being undertake.
"The BGC workforce works as team - and that is the key to maintaining a reliable and consistent service," said Steve Wright. "Demands and job commitments can change from day-to-day and even hour-by-hour - so effective management of the workforce is vital. This enables us to make the best ergonomic use of our teams while at the same time ensuring we meet all our commitments - which, in turn, enables us to provide a quality service at a value-for-money price."
Developing an organisational "nerve centre" has been central to BGC´s business growth, particularly as the company´s operational area is continuing to expand.
"There is no doubt the systems we have set up will stand us in good stead in the future," added Steve.
