BGC gears up for new law on gas and electricity checks
BGC are offering a comprehensive gas and electricity checking service which gives peace of mind to people moving home.
The Government is introducing a law that anyone selling a house must provide a Home Information Pack (HIP). This includes documents such as deeds, local authority searches and a professional structural survey which will make the transaction a slicker process.
A crucial part of the HIP will be to have stringent checks carried out on all gas and electrical installations in order to gain a safety certificate. This is where BGC comes in. Their qualified engineers can take the hassle and stress out of the situation by carrying out a full check on both gas and electrical appliances and provide the house mover with the appropriate certificate.
BGC director Mark Sims said: "Moving house can be a lot of hassle and people do not want more unnecessary distractions. It will soon be the case that by law they have to obtain the gas and electrical safety certificate for the HIP before they can sell their home.
"We can come in and do the job quickly and efficiently and our fully qualified and professional engineers means that the job will be done correctly and give the existing and potential homeowner peace of mind."
The HIP system will be rolled out as a pilot scheme in mid 2006 in preparation for a full launch in 2007. In preparation, BGC are now setting up partnerships with a number of estate agents who can pass details directly to clients who need help with the minefield of paperwork that surrounds moving house.
"The fact that the estate agent can refer their client to an organisation like ourselves who can do a comprehensive job means they have one less thing to think about at a time when they have enough on their plates," added Mark.
